Steps to Kuwait documents

Notarize

Make sure your document is notarized by a local notary public unless it is an original copy/certification issued by a competent Federal/State/ local office.

Authenticate

The document must then be authenticated by the Secretary of the State where it is executed. Some states require that the document be certified by the County Clerk first.

Legalize

If one of the Kuwait Consulate-Generals holds consular jurisdiction over your state, you may submit your document to that Consulate-General for final legalization.

Get Started

  1. The document to be authenticated, submit both the original and a complete set of photocopy.
  2.  Individual documents, please provide one passport/driver license copy of the applicant.
  3.  Corporate documents, please provide a cover letter explaining the reason for requesting authentication and contact information, along with one a copy of passport or driver license of the legal representative of the company.
  4. Washington Express Document Processing Request Form.
  5. Other supporting documents a consular officer may request.
  1. Cover letter from applicant stating the purpose for authentication and the applicant contact information. 
  2. Original diploma or copy certified by a notary public, Secretary of state and the U.S. State Department in Washington, D.C    
  3. Copy of the diploma.  
  4. Copy of applicant passport.    
  5. Official Sealed transcript.     
  6. Verification of the diploma from www.studentclearinghouse.org.

Kuwait Consular Fees:

  • Regular Service Personal Document: $25 per document
  • Regular Service Legal Document: $25 per document
  • Regular Service Commercial Document: $40 per document (US Arab Chamber of Commerce Certification is required.)

Note: The Commercial Invoice fee is $50 and the Certificate of Origin fee is $75. Both documents will also require National U.S.-Arab Chamber of Commerce Certification for an extra fee of $85/per document.

  • US State Department $20.00 per document

Washington Express Service/Fees:

Document legalization will be processed by the New York Consulate. Additional fees will apply for shipping cost to New York.

  • Regular Service – 10 business days
  • Regular Service: $260 per document
  • Round trip FedEx to Kuwait Consulate NY: $95

*The above processing time is average and for reference only. Some applications may require longer processing times where a pick-up date cannot be confirmed until notified by the Visa Office. Multi-document discounts may be offered depending on volume.

  • Please make sure you have followed the all the steps required for authentication before submitting your document to the Kuwaiti Embassy/Consulate-General for final legalization.
  • Your document must be authentic, intact and legitimate. The Embassy/Consulate-Generals will NOT authenticate a document that contains illegal contents under Kuwaiti laws or may cause potential threats to Kuwait’s national or public interests.
  • A document containing two or more pages must be bound properly and securely, with sealing wax or paging seal/embossed seal to ensure the integrity of the document. The Embassy / Consulate-Generals will NOT authenticate a document if it is found illegitimate, or in any way forged, counterfeited, fraudulent or altered.
  • Single affidavits/certificates intended to be used for marriage registration in Kuwait and certain adoption documents regarding marital status, health status, or criminal records are only valid for six months from the date of issuance. The Embassy / Consulate-Generals will NOT authenticate a document if it becomes invalid.
