What you will need: 

As of November 11, 2019 onward Visa Services will no longer be issued at the Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania in Washington D.C. All visa applicants are advised to apply for the e-visa online at www.immigration.go.tz

  1. U.S. Passport – You must provide your signed passport. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months and have a blank page available.
  2. Tanzania Visa Application Form – Please provide a completed visa application form;  click Tanzania Visa for a .pdf of the application. Because the application changes on occasion, we’ve also provided a link to the Tanzania Embassy website so you may get the most recent version directly from the Embassy website. The application form must be filled out completely and have answers for all fields. It must display your full name as appears in your passport, and it must be signed.
  3. Washington Express Visas Visa Request Form – filled out completely.
  4. Photographs – Please provide 2 (two) color, passport size photos. The photographs must be printed on photo paper, must be 2″ by 2″ and have a white background, and must have been taken in the last 6 months.
  5. Immunization – vaccination against cholera and malaria is recommended.
  6. Copy of your airline ticket or travel agent itinerary.
  7. Letter of Consent/Parental approval for minors – Visa applications for minors under 18 years should be accompanied with a NOTARIZED letter of consent jointly signed by both parents or legal guardians, approving the minor to travel and authorizing the Embassy to issue a visa to the child.

A business letter of introduction from your company (on company letterhead) addressed to the Embassy of Tanzania stating the purpose of travel, the name and contact of the company in Tanzania you’re visiting, and a financial guarantee for all of your expenses. Click here to see a sample business letter.
  6. Immunization – vaccination against cholera and malaria is recommended
  7. Copy of your airline ticket or travel agent itinerary.

Tanzania Consular Fees:

  • Multiple Entry Tourist visa (12 months) – Processed in 10 days: $100
  • Multiple Entry Tourist visa (12 months) – Processed in 3 business days: $120
  • Single Entry Business visa (3 months) -Processed in 10 Days: $250
  • Single Entry Business visa (3 months) -Processed in 3 Days: $270

Vaccination against: YELLOW FEVER if arriving within 6 days after leaving or transiting countries with infected or endemic areas.

Exempt from Yellow Fever vaccination:

  • Except for those not leaving the airport in the countries concerned.

Recommended:

Vaccination against:

  • yellow fever (for all other passengers over 1 year);
  • typhoid and paratyphoid fevers;
  • cholera;
  • malaria prophylaxis. Malaria risk – mainly due to P. falciparum – exists throughout the year in the whole country below 1800 m. P. falciparum resistant to chloroquine and resistant to sulfadoxine/pyrimethamine reported (see Terms & Definitions). Recommended prevention: IV.
  • Visitors must hold return/onward tickets and all documents required for their next destination.

Warning:

  • Non-compliance with visa requirements will result in deportation of passenger on same flight.
