For a U.S. citizen requesting a Sierra Leone Visa, we will need the following (if you are not a U.S. citizen, click here – VISA INFO to find the proper requirements):
Sierra Leone Tourist Visa Documents:
- U.S. Passport – You must provide your signed passport. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months and have a blank page available.
- Sierra Leone Visa Application Form – Please provide a completed visa application form; click here for a .pdf of the application. Because the application changes on occasion, we’ve also provided a link to the Sierra Leone Embassy website so you may get the most recent version directly from the Embassy website. The application form must be filled out completely and have answers for all fields. It must display your full name as appears in your passport, and it must be signed.
- Washington Express Visas Visa Request Form – filled out completely.
- Photograph – Please provide one color, passport size photo. The photograph must be printed on photo paper, it must be 2″ by 2″ and have a white background, and it must have been taken in the last 6 months.
- Letter of invitation from your host/sponsor (a person or hotel) in Sierra Leone.
- Copy of your airline ticket or travel agent itinerary.
- Yellow fever vaccination certificate is required.
Sierra Leone Business Visa Documents:
- U.S. Passport – You must provide your signed passport. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months and have a blank page available.

- A business letter of introduction from your company (on company letterhead) addressed to the Embassy of Sierra Leone stating the purpose of travel, the name and contact of the company in Sierra Leone you’re visiting, and a financial guarantee for all of your expenses. - Invitation letter from your host company in Sierra Leone.
- Copy of your airline ticket or travel agent itinerary.
- Yellow fever vaccination certificate is required.

Additional Information:
Passport and/or passport replacing documents must be validon arrival.
Vaccination against: yellow fever, if arriving within 6 days after leaving or transiting countries with infected or endemic areas.
Exempt from Yellow Fever vaccination:
-Passengers not leaving the airport.
Warning:
-A yellow fever vaccination certificate may be required for those leaving Sierra Leone.
Recommended:
-Vaccination against: yellow fever for all passengers visiting any area outside the main cities in Sierra Leone.
-Malaria prophylaxis. Malaria risk – mainly in the malignant (P. falciparum) form – exists throughout the year in the whole country. Resistance to chloroquine and sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine reported. Recommended prevention: IV.
