What you will need: 

  1. U.S. Passport – You must provide your signed passport. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months and have a blank page available.
  2. Burundi Visa Application Form – Please provide a completed visa application form in duplicate. Click Burundi Visa App for the pdf of the application. Because the application changes on occasion, we’ve also provided a link to the Burundi Embassy website so you can get the most recent version directly from the Embassy website. The application form must be filled out completely and have answers for all fields.
  3. Washington Express Visas Visa Request Form – filled out completely.
  4. Photograph – Please provide 2 color, passport size photos. The photos must be printed on photo paper, must be 2″ by 2″ and have a white background, and must have been taken in the last 6 months.
  5. Copy of your round trip airline tickets or a letter from your travel agent confirming that round trip tickets will be issued. Itinerary is not accepted unless it shows the ticket number(s), or that the ticket is paid for.
  6. An international Inoculation Certificate against yellow fever.
  7. If visiting friends or family you must have a personal invitation letter with the contact information of the host and visitor, purpose and duration of the visit, accommodation information including address during your stat and signature and date. Proof of your host’s status in Burundi (copy of Burundi passport page or copy of their Burundi residence permit and their national passport information page) will need to accompany the letter.

Minor Children (under 18 years) must also have:

  • Travel Authorization for Minors Form (Notarized). All applicants under 18 years of age, who are traveling alone, or in the company of only one parent, will only be allowed out of Burundi when duly authorized by the absent parent(s).
  • Notarized photocopy of birth certificate.
  • In the event of absent parent(s), a notarized letter of parental consent authorizing the Consulate General of Burundi to issue a visa, signed by the absent parent(s) or guardian(s).

  5. A invitation letter from the host company, meeting, or exhibition organizers in Burundi on company letterhead and signed.
  6. A business letter from your company, on company letterhead, introducing the traveler including the employment status and position held at the company, purpose of travel (business meetings, contract negotiations, etc), the name and contact of the company in Burundi you’re visiting, type and validity of the type of visa being requested, and a financial guarantee for all of your expenses. Letter should be addressed to “The Consulate of Burundi, Visa Section” and signed by a senior manager or equivalent VP of the company.
  7. Hotel reservations on hotel letterhead signed by a hotel agent that includes the name of the traveler and the dates of reservation.
  8. Copy of your airline ticket or travel agent itinerary.
  9. An international Inoculation Certificate against yellow fever.

Burundi Consular Fees:

  • Regular Tourist/ Business Visa (15 business days) – $90

Washington Express Service/Fees:
